Shadow Rider (Original 16x20 SOLD)

The shadow is the horse and the rider is me. For many years I had hidden in the shadows of depression. The darkness was my my safe place. I could ride through my existence, many times just holding for dear life, allowing the shadow to lead me through the scary realities of living. I could hide in it's strength believing I had none myself. Shadow Rider was the beginning of my journey out of the darkness.

The shadow is the horse and the rider is me. While working with the medium of scratchboard I could start with small gentle scratches slowly beginning to find the light. Through my art I began to discover that there is light outside of my safe dark place and it wasn't scary. Rather than holding on for dear life allowing darkness to control my journey I began to sit tall with my heals down, strong in the stirrups and with small movement and light nudges navigate in the shadows toward the light.
Embracing Shadow (Original 16x20 SOLD)
The shadow is the horse and the rider is me. Encompassing the shadows with the never ending circular embrace and standing grounded in the strength of acceptance of the shadows as a part of me is certainly not the end of my travels through and out of the darkness. It is the beginning. . . again.
